Hello ScriptFazers! I wanted to make everyone aware who isn’t that in just a few days SCRIPT FRENZY begins it’s third annual screenplay-in-a-month writing event. If you’ve never participated in Script Frenzy before, you have three days to prepare! We can’t recommend this event highly enough.
Started by Chris Baty, who also created National Novel Writing Month, Script Frenzy is the sister event devoted to movie and TV writing. Begun in 2007, Script Frenzy is totally free to the writer, and is all about positive encouragement and setting a deadline to get things done. For one month, participating writers are pushed, prodded, and generally encouraged to complete a 100-page screenplay in just 30 DAYS. As you progress, you are able to upload your finished pages and watch your progress meter bounce upwards toward the finish line. It starts April 1st and ends May 1st, and everyone who pulls it off definitely feels like a winner.
Remember—writing is rewriting. Often, the greatest hurdle is just getting that first draft written out on paper—and that’s what Script Frenzy is all about: Working quickly, meeting a deadline, and getting out a draft of your script that can be massaged and improved upon AFTER the event is wrapped. Some writers LOVE isolation, but I gotta tell yah—sometimes it’s nice to have a cheering section. When you participate in Script Frenzy, you’ll be invited to parties with other Frenzy writers, will have access to the event’s question-and-answer forums, and get all kinds of assistance, tips, and professional advice along the way.
So do it! If you’ve been thinking about writing a movie but never have, or you've been putting off finishing that action thriller you started in 2005—seize the moment. Or more specifically—seize APRIL!
